An intense end to the year—and what a year it's been with AI. The last few weeks I spent diving into a part of AI that isn’t widely discussed, one that supposedly “adds nothing” to this world and, according to some, would be better off not existing at all. But the legal side of Artificial Intelligence, with the AI Act at its core, does exist. And whether we like it or not, when planning to implement any AI project, we won’t be able to avoid analyzing and adapting to the regulations.
Some argue that the European market is already overregulated, which delays—or even prevents—the arrival of the latest innovations (the absence of OpenAI’s SORA in Europe being one such example). On the other hand, are regulations that aim to protect citizens—especially those with lower digital literacy—from manipulation and subliminal techniques really such a bad thing? I won’t jump into that debate now—not enough data yet. And I won’t say “the truth lies somewhere in the middle” either. Like the classic line says: “the truth lies where it lies”… Time will tell.

It wasn’t an easy task—after all, the AI Act doesn’t spark nearly as much interest as the newest version of ChatGPT ;) But it was necessary.
